This LSA Bicentennial Theme Semester event will explore the relationship between the university and the city during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Over the course of these decades, Detroit became an industrial metropolis, and U-M emerged as one of the nation's leading research universities. This panel will address the political, economic, and cultural dimensions of these overlapping histories.
